COMPANY
Hilweh Builders LLC and Hawaii Deck Builders specialize in residential remodeling and deck building across Oahu. Founded in 2019, we are a family-owned and licensed general contracting business built on ALOHA values and strong community roots. Our projects include decks, stairs, lanais, additions, kitchen and bathroom remodels, cabinetry and millwork, flooring, painting, drywall, and exterior home repairs.
JOB SUMMARY
The Construction General Helper supports construction and remodeling projects by assisting with demolition, jobsite preparation, material handling, cleanup, tool and equipment organization, and general field support. This is an entry-level position intended for someone who is dependable, physically capable, eager to learn, and willing to take direction well. The Helper plays an important role in helping the crew maintain a safe, organized, and efficient jobsite while gaining exposure to basic construction tasks, tools, materials, and workflow.
JOB DUTIES
Perform variety of physical general construction labor tasks on construction projects including but not limited to:
· Assist with demolition and removal of materials on remodeling and construction projects
· Help prepare, protect, and clean work areas before, during, and after construction activities
· Load, unload, move, and organize tools, equipment, materials, and supplies at jobsites, in company vehicles, and at the home base/shop
· Support daily jobsite mobilization and demobilization, including setup, breakdown, staging, cleanup, and securing of tools and materials
· Maintain clean, safe, and organized jobsites, work areas, vehicles, and storage spaces
· Perform general cleanup, sweep-up, haul-off, dump runs, and material pickups as needed
· Hand tools, gather materials, and provide basic support to carpenters and other crew members during project execution
· Assist with simple construction-related tasks under direct supervision
· Safely use basic hand tools and construction equipment with training and supervision
· Follow company safety guidelines and help maintain a safe work environment
· Communicate effectively and professionally with crew members and customers
· Collaborate with the team to support project progress and overall jobsite efficiency
· Demonstrate reliability and accountability by showing up on time, following instructions, communicating clearly, and helping where needed
· Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
The Helper should be dependable, hard-working, physically capable, willing to learn, and able to take direction well. This is an entry-level support role intended for someone who is building foundational jobsite experience. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, communicate professionally, work well with others, and be willing to contribute wherever needed to help keep projects safe, organized, and moving forward.
The ideal candidate will meet most or all of the following:
· Previous construction experience is helpful but not required
· Willingness to learn basic construction practices, jobsite procedures, and proper tool use
· Ability to follow instructions carefully and work under direct supervision
· Ability to assist with physical labor tasks, including lifting, carrying, loading, unloading, cleaning, and material movement
· Ability to stay organized and help maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas
· Basic familiarity with hand tools and construction equipment is a plus, but training can be provided
· Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
· Professional attitude, communication, and teamwork skills
· Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and improve over time
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
· Ability to pass a background check
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational training, trade school coursework, or prior carpentry training preferred but not required
Compensation: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
